CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow vs Standard CZ 75: Do They Take the Same Grips?

The CZ 75 family is one of the most diverse in the pistol world. CZ has produced dozens of variants over the decades — different frame sizes, different rail configurations, different grip textures, different safety arrangements. If you're shopping for aftermarket wooden grips, the most important question is simple: which CZ 75 variants share the same grip frame, and which ones don't?

The Short Answer

The standard CZ 75B and the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow do NOT share the same grip panels. The SP-01 has a longer grip frame than the standard CZ 75B, which means it requires longer panels. Ordering standard CZ 75B grips for an SP-01 will result in panels that are too short and won't cover the full grip frame.

The Standard CZ 75B Frame

The CZ 75B is the baseline model — the direct descendant of the original 1975 design. It uses a compact grip frame with two grip screws per side (one near the top, one near the bottom of the panel). TK Grips CZ 75B panels are machined to this frame's dimensions and fit the following models:

  • CZ 75B
  • CZ 75BD (decocker variant)
  • CZ 75 Omega
  • CZ 85 and CZ 85B (ambidextrous safety variant)
  • CZ 85 Combat

These all share the same grip frame dimensions and the same screw spacing, so the same panels fit all of them.

The SP-01 Frame

The CZ 75 SP-01 was introduced for IPSC Production division competition and features a full-length dust cover rail under the barrel. This extended frame also means a longer grip — the SP-01's grip frame is approximately 5mm longer than the standard CZ 75B.

The SP-01 Shadow is the competition-tuned version of the SP-01, featuring a shorter reset trigger, dehorned frame, and other competition-oriented modifications. It uses the same longer grip frame as the standard SP-01.

SP-01 variants with the longer frame include:

  • CZ 75 SP-01
  • CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow
  • CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow 2
  • CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical

How to Tell Which Frame You Have

If you're not sure which CZ 75 variant you have, the easiest way to tell is to look at the dust cover — the section of the frame below the barrel:

  • Standard CZ 75B: Short dust cover, no accessory rail, grip ends roughly level with the bottom of the trigger guard.
  • SP-01: Extended dust cover with a Picatinny accessory rail, grip is noticeably longer than the standard 75B.

You can also check the model designation stamped on the slide or frame, or look up the serial number on CZ's website.

Other CZ 75 Variants to Know About

CZ 75 Compact and PCR

The CZ 75 Compact and PCR use a shorter grip frame than the standard 75B. These require compact-specific panels and are NOT compatible with standard CZ 75B grips.

CZ P-01

The P-01 is an alloy-frame compact variant. It uses a different grip frame than both the standard 75B and the SP-01. P-01 specific panels are required.

CZ P-10 Series

The P-10 is a polymer-frame striker-fired pistol — a completely different design from the CZ 75 family. It does not use traditional grip panels.
