1911 Grip Dimensions & Pistol Grip Sizing Guide
Use this TK Grips 1911 grip dimensions and pistol grip sizing guide to confirm fitment before ordering. Pistol model names can look similar while grip-frame length, screw-hole spacing, tang shape, safety clearance and lanyard-ring cuts differ.
1911 grip sizes
Government / Commander grip frame
- Screw-hole spacing: approximately 3 1/16 in (78 mm), center to center.
- Common examples include Colt Government, Colt Commander, Kimber Custom and other standard full-size 1911 grip frames.
- A Commander usually uses the full-size grip frame even though its slide and barrel are shorter.
Officer / Defender / Compact grip frame
- Screw-hole spacing: approximately 2 11/16 in (68 mm), center to center.
- Common examples include Colt Officer, Colt Defender and Kimber Ultra Carry.
- Do not order full-size 1911 grips for a compact frame unless the product page explicitly confirms compatibility.
